The collaboration decreases overlap in the offering of the 13 centers and makes way for new possibilities. More streamlined means of communication and a service desk improve the general service towards students. 'L4' also acts as an ombuds service, allowing complaints to be treated quicker and more efficiently.
The founding of the consortium is the direct result of the new decree on adult education which took effect at the start of the 2007-2008 academic year. Central to this decree is the collaboration between all partners in the field of adult education.
The Flemish Minister of Education, Frank Vandenbroucke, aims to found similar consortia throughout Flanders.
