24h02'CV: Pegasus takes podium spot

The CQS Group T Racing Team took part in the 24h02’2CV race at the Spa-Francorchamps track for a second time on October 15, 2011. Despite a number of initial setbacks, their Pegasus, an environmentally friendly 2CV, took a podium spot.

Setbacks

Bert Longin got the race of 24 hours and 2 minutes going for the team. The Belgian top racing pilot had been driving at top speed for a couple of hours already when an electrical problem occured. Around midnight, the Pegasus was back on track but the team's ranking had taken a fall.

Catching up

The remaining 16 hours passed without any problems. The team still made it to the 29th spot in the general ranking and even became runner-up in the experimental ranking! Despite the technical breakdown, the pilots managed to have the car do 271 laps around the Francorchamps racing track, some 1,900 km. This adds up to 840 km more than in 2010, when they first particpated in the 24h02'CV race.

90 extra trees

The performance of the Pegasus indirectly contributes to the future of our natural surroundings. Recently, Bert Longin started the 3forTree project. For every 3 laps he does on a racing track, 1 tree is planted. The CQS group T Racing Team, Longin, and the 4 other pilots (Philippe Huart, Tom Schoolmeesters, Steven Vanhoegaerden en Nicolas Verheyden) will plant these along the Zolder circuit in Limburg, Belgium.
